LIGHT UP WARSAW! NOV. 29TH 5:30 PM

Warsaw…warm-hearted, welcoming and a wealth of history.  Like a genteel southern lady, some of Warsaw’s best assets are bubbling just below the surface.  She doesn’t flaunt her beauty with bright lights and loud noise, but lets you get to know her slowly and gently.  Warsaw weaves the heritage of the past with the delight of the present and the excitement of the future in a leisurely blend of sights and sounds year round.

Best known for the two lakes, Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks, the first thing to tickle your fancy may be the fishing supplied by 110,000 acres of combined water surface area.  There is easy access to both lakes nearby and whether you’re after bass, catfish or that elusive crappie this is the place to start.   Don’t forget paddlefish (spoonbill) season in March and April.  If you’ve never hooked into one of these unusual looking fish, you’re in for a treat.  The locals can’t wait for “snagging season” after a winter spent indoors.

Thanks to an abundance of public use land managed extremely well by the Missouri Department of Conservation and US Army Corps of Engineers, white-tail deer, turkey and other wildlife thrive in the surrounding wooded paradise.  Every fall the turkey and deer hunters flock to this area to search for that big tom or trophy buck.

Downtown Warsaw boasts an eclectic mix of quaint antique shops, where that one-of-a-kind item is just waiting for you to find it.  If you’re looking for a vanity just like the one you used sit at to play grownup at grandma’s, there are several shops that might be able to help you out.  Then there is always the unusual crafts that can be found nowhere else (well, at least almost nowhere else).  Put on your hunting outfit and go on that antique and gift shop safari.  The best part is you can park downtown and walk to almost everywhere, then stop at one of the fantastic restaurants for a refreshing lunch or dinner.

We could go on and on, but better yet come and see for yourself.  You might find you come for a day and stay for a lifetime!  For more information contact the Warsaw Area Chamber of Commerce at 660-438-5922 or 1-800-WARSAW-4 (1-800-927-7294).
